The Baguio Convention and Cultural Center operates as a vital asset of the Baguio City Government, dedicated to establishing the city as a premier "convention destination" in Northern Luzon. Its mission is to provide a world-class facility that celebrates and preserves the rich heritage of the Cordillera while facilitating modern economic and social activities. Renovated and renamed in 2021 to honor Baguio’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City, the center features a distinct modernized design inspired by traditional Igorot architecture. The venue is historically significant for hosting the 1978 World Chess Championship and continues to serve as a strategic hub for government summits, trade expos, and large-scale cultural festivals. Beyond event hosting, the center has integrated modern technology, housing a "smart command center" that monitors city-wide health, disaster prevention, and law enforcement.
